DASHWOOD, Ontario – Ben Lobb, Member of Parliament for Huron-Bruce, today announced funding for the Friedsburg-Dashwood 150th Anniversary Celebration celebrating the local arts and heritage of Dashwood.
“Our Government is proud to support the Friedburg-Dashwood 150th Anniversary Committee,” said Minister Moore. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”
“I am pleased that our government is supporting this 150th anniversary celebration. Over the years there has been many memories and milestones for residents and businesses. This will provide an opportunity for the community to celebrate the history in Friedsburg-Dashwood “, said MP Lobb.
“We are thrilled to be accepted for this grant from Heritage Canada. This will allow us to show the rich cultural diversity of our town to a much wider audience. One of our goals was to demonstrate our history and local heritage to a younger generation and to showcase our local artists, and this grant will allow our committee the ability to do so much more than we could have without it. We can’t forget to thank Ben and his staff for all their assistance“, said Tim Steele, Chair of the Friedburg-Dashwood 150th anniversary celebration.
The Friedburg-Dashwood150th Anniversary Committee has received funding of $17,200 to help present its 150th Anniversary celebration, which will take place July 31st 2010.
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
