About Ben


Ben Lobb was first elected to the House of Commons in 2008.  He was sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Huron—Bruce on October 30th, 2008.

Ben is currently a member of two Standing Committees, 'Human Resources, Skills, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities' and 'Veterans Affairs'.  Ben is also a member of  the Conservative Auto caucus and Rural caucus.

Prior to entering politics, Ben worked at Wescast Industries in Wingham, Ontario for seven years. Wescast is the world’s leading supplier of cast exhaust manifolds for passenger cars and light. Prior to leaving Wescast Ben worked as a Business Analyst on a team sourcing a new ERP system.

Ben just recently worked as a Cost Analyst and Purchasing Manager for Desire2Learn.  Desire2Learn Inc. is a leader in providing innovative eLearning solutions to academic and other leading organizations around the world.  In 2007, Desire2Learn ranked the 12th Fastest Growing Technology Company in Deloitte Technology Fast 50.

Ben attended Central Huron Secondary School in Clinton. Upon graduation from CHSS he attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Cum Laude. 

In addition, Ben also works as an auctioneer for his father’s company, Richard Lobb Auctions founded in 1965.  Ben was a two year Board Member with the Huron United Way (2007-2008).
Ben is happily married to Andrea Lobb.  They reside in Holmesville.
