Government of Canada launches Canada Summer Job Program

GODERICH, ONTARIO, February 1, 2012 —The Government of Canada is now accepting employer applications for the Canada Summer Jobs 2012 program.  This program supports work experiences for students as well as organizations providing important community services.

The Canada Summer Jobs Program provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Not-for-profit employers are eligible for up to 100 percent of the provincial/territorial minimum hourly wage and mandatory employment-related costs. Public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees are eligible for up to 50 percent of the provincial/territorial minimum hourly wage.

The employer application period opens today and applications must be received by February 29, 2012. Interested employers can apply online at www.servicecanada.gc.ca/csj2012 , at their local Service Canada Centre or by mail or fax.
