Government of Canada launches Canada Summer Jobs 2009 to help students and serve communities
February 04, 2009

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, February 4, 2009 —The Government of Canada is now accepting employer applications for the Canada Summer Jobs 2009 program.  This program supports work experiences for students as well as organizations providing important community services.

Funding will be offered to not-for-profit, public-sector and small private-sector employers to create high-quality summer job opportunities for young people 15 to 30 years old who are full-time students and intend to return to school in the next school year. Larger private-sector employers with more than 50 employees are not eligible for funding.

“This program will encourage businesses and organizations in Huron-Bruce to create jobs and allow students to gain valuable work experience,” said Ben Lobb, MP for Huron-Bruce

The employer application period for the program started February 2 and ends February 27, 2009. Applications are now available.  Interested employers can apply online at www.servicecanada.gc.ca/csj2009, or at their local Service Canada Centre.
