Blyth, ON – The Township of North Huron was able to build a new Emergency Services Training Centre (ESTC), thanks to an investment from the Government of Canada. Ben Lobb, Member of Parliament for Huron-Bruce joined Reeve Neil Vincent, Fire Chief John Black and community members in the grand opening and official ceremonies of Blyth’s new ESTC.

“Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan our government is committed to creating jobs and supporting the people, communities and businesses of southern Ontario,” said MP Ben Lobb. “This world-class facility will attract young people to the area, and create economic opportunities for the Township of North Huron and surrounding areas.”

"This new building will allow us to expand our courses to 'year-round' delivery, said Fire Chief John Black, who also serves as the Principal of the ESTC.  "We're ecstatic with this support as we continue to bring educational opportunities to Ontario's emergency services."

Thanks to FedDev Ontario’s $750,000 investment under its Community Adjustment Fund program, the Township of North Huron was able to construct a brand new 12,000 square foot Emergency Services Training Centre.  Complete with classrooms, washrooms, showers and almost 8000 sq ft. of indoor apparatus bays, this new facility will allow for year round programming and training.

FedDev Ontario was created as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan to support businesses and communities in southern Ontario. Now in its third year of operation, the Agency has launched a number of initiatives to create a Southern Ontario Advantage and place the region in a strong position to compete in the global economy.
